Visit 2 Sanparks on this tour: Mokala outside Kimberley, as well as Kgalagadi!!
Depart Mossel Bay, George & Oudtshoorn. Travel via Meiringspoort & Beaufort West. At Three Sisters, we deviate from the N1 and proceed via Victoria West to Britstown. Our route is via Strydenburg & Hopetown to Orania, for our first overnight on the banks of the Orange River.
Explore Orania. This town operates totally independant. They even have their own “money”, the Ora, which is equivalent to the Rand.
Proceed to Mokala Reserve, a Sanparks Resort, outside Kimberley.
Overnight Mokala (2 nights).
Explore Mokala Reserve as we’ll be going on a game drive. Interesting hillocks and camel thorn trees. Endangered species roam here. Springbok, wildebeest, giraffe, roan antelope, oryx (gemsbok) can be seen in this park.
Return to our chalets in the late afternoon.
Travel along N12 to Kimberley, to visit import tourist attractions, such as the “Big Hole”. Continue on N8 via Griquatown to Groblershoop to overnight.
Along Route N10 to Upington. Pop in at their museum to see the donkey statue. A camel statue can also be seen in this town. Route R360 via Ashkam to Twee Rivieren, entrance to Kgalagadi Park. Overnight at a Lodge, just outside Kgalagadi Park, for 2 nights.
Kgalagadi with its red sand dunes awaits us, when going on a game drive. Oryx (gemsbok), eland, springbok, blue widebeest is rather common in this area. Leopard, lion, hyenna, cheetah and a host of mammals & birds can be found in this park. Return to our Lodge late afternoon.
Depart Kgalagadi area. Return trip via Upington, Keimoes, Kenhardt and Brandvlei to Calvinia, to overnight.
From Calvinia, via Williston along route R353 to Fraserburg and Leeu-Gamka. Prince Albert is next in line. The last stretch of our trip is via De Rust to Oudtshoorn, Mossel Bay & George.
